Push-ups, SDHP, Ring dips, weighted pull-ups, HSPU 080519, Cindy

Me
Pack:
50 Push-ups
35 x 30kg Sumo-deadlift high-pull
35 Ring Dips
20 x 16kg Weighted Pull-ups, rapidly dropping to 5kg
15 Handstand Push-ups - Piked on 20" box

23:28
Splits were; 3:31, 2:06, 7:46, 8:20, 1:43.
The ring dips and weighted pull-ups felt a LOT longer than 8 minutes.
  • Push-ups felt OK. Surprisingly so. Still broken, but not the terrible ordeal they normally are.
  • SDHP pretty cruisy, especially when I remembered to get my hips into it.
  • Dips were down to triples and doubles after about 15 reps.
  • Pull-ups went 1x16kg and there wasn't going to be a 2nd, 2 x 12kg and there wasn't going to be a 3rd, 2 x 6kg and there wasn't going to be a 3rd. Then I switched to my 5kg baby dumbbell and got an attack of the stubborns. I should have dropped to dead-hangs.
  • I think I need to video my HSPU, they felt too easy.
That J.T. combination of movements is a sod no matter how you spice it up. And weighted pull-ups is not how I'd have improved the "taste".

Lynette:
Cindy - Buttercups
1 x Jumping pull-up
4 x push-ups
7 x squats

8 rounds plus pull-up and push-ups.
Switched to push-ups between 2 12 boxes for the 5th round.

19-07-2007 Weighted pull-ups

Weighted pull-ups 1-1-1-1-1-1-1 reps
Post loads and body weight to comments.
Compare to 070323.
  1. 12kg
  2. 12kg
  3. 14kg failed
  4. 14kg
  5. 14kg failed
  6. 14kg failed
  7. 12kg
Body weight 94.4kg

Better than last time, all I could manage was 8kg then.

Remind me not to have such a big lunch next time I'm doing this, and to take the heavy cellphone off my belt first. I'm sure I could have got another set of 14kg if I had "optimised" my performance.

Weighted pull-ups

CFWU x 3
+ parallette press-ups (usually do ring press-ups, but I finished making the parallettes today and wanted to play)
    - beginners/jumping pull-ups

Weighted pull-ups
    1 x 5kg
    1 x 5kg
1 x 5kg feeling too easy and there's a 12kg dumbbell already made up sitting right there
    failed at 12kg
    1 x 8kg
    1 x 8kg
1 x 8kg with much pulling of faces and wild kicking of feet, I mean kipping

For a guy with the wrong power-to-weight ratio to do pull-ups, that's a better start than I expected.
Slogging away at the beginners pull-ups is paying off and Eva's CFJ article and video on kipping might just get me doing them Crossfit style yet.
And I could always work on that power to weight ratio thing.
Lose weight;get stronger. Hmmm, decisions.
